Sirsa will implement the first autonomous scrubber at a Spanish airport

13.02.2020

For the first time, a driverless scrubber has been operated at a Spanish airport to perform cleaning tasks of the premises.

SIRSA, in cooperation with AENA, will therefore be a pioneer at implementing this new system at the Son Sant Joan facilities on Palma de Mallorca. The first tests of the machine at the airport facilities were performed over three days, thereby providing a practical demonstration of its capabilities. The machine will soon begin operating fully.

It is a company venture on innovation applied to cleaning services, with the objective of improving efficiency and performance, while allowing greater work optimisation. Tennant’s T7AMR automated scrubber operates according to programmed parameters that, through a complex computer programme, give it the appropriate service guidelines and objectives. The scrubber integrates cameras and sensors that guide the machine safely around the established route. This system also uses NanoClean technology, which electrically converts water into nano-bubbles and allows cleaning without detergents.

For SIRSA, it represents a new challenge in the application of new technologies and artificial intelligence in its services. The system optimises performance of the work while simultaneously providing a healthy and environmentally respectful service. Operators have therefore been trained, and middle management has been involved, which will control these types of robots.

Also at this airport, the company’s services are integrated in the CMMS (maintenance management software) of the premises, which allows monitoring the operations of employees in order to make them more efficient. To optimise the work, the system allows adapting the services to the real needs of the premises, and it compiles statistical data on user satisfaction.

SIRSA consolidates its position on the Balearic Islands, where it already has the cleaning services concessions at 15 marinas (IB Ports), at the waste treatment plant managed by TIRME and at the facilities of the Environmental Technologies Business Park of Son Reus and of Can Canut.
